“We offer spiritual direction to people throughout the Archdiocese of Denver and beyond, as well,” said Fr. Greg Cleveland, O.M.V., of The Lanteri Center for Ignatian Spirituality in Denver. “We offer that service to people looking for that one-on-one guidance, helping deepen their relationship with The Lord. “Prayer, with the Rosary, was a big part of our family,” said Sam Perry, discussing his mission to widely share that devotion, including distribution of tens of thousands of Rosaries and prayer books over the years, as well as initiating Prayer in the Square on the first Saturday of each month at locations across Colorado's Front Range. Perry also discussed the traveling statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which can be booked at schools and parishes in the Archdiocese of Denver. "This really is the largest civil rights movement of our time," said Lynn Grandon, program director of the Respect Life Office at Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver. Across the nation each January, "people join together by the hundreds of thousands to remember the tragedy of the Roe v. Wade decision and what it's done to our nation. Some people may not be aware that the numbers are above 60 million of the children that we've lost [from abortion] since January of 1973. So people gather and march peacefully all across the United States."

Grandon described the upcoming Celebrate Life Rally and March, to take place starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, on the west steps of the state Capitol in Denver. Details are available at respectlifedenver.org.

“Every two years, we will have a recruitment year at the St. Francis School of Theology for Deacons,” said Deacon Robert Hoffman, associate director. “We are in the recruitment year. For the entire year, once a month we will have discernment retreats for men who feel they have the call to be a deacon.”

In the devastating fallout from suicide, not much attention is given to "the family members, the friends that are left behind. I think it's a topic that is rarely discussed and rarely addressed," said Cheryl, a guest on Respect Life Radio. In recollecting the responses of friends — following the suicide of her husband — she described five different approaches: Shame, Blame, Fame, Same and Aim.

"We know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States," said Elizabeth Higbie, LCSW, a therapist with St. Raphael Counseling, a ministry of Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Denver. Higbie discussed risk factors that may include mental illness, depression, a family history of suicide, isolation, a history of abuse in childhood, unwillingness to seek help as well as barriers to treatment.
